EURO 2016: Croatia defeats Spain to finish top of group D

Croatia put up a brilliant performance with a 2-1 victory over Spain to go as group D winners. The encounter which took place in Bordeux saw a stunning display from Croatia.

Spain took an early lead in the first half through striker Alvaro Morata but was later equalised just before the break by Nikola Kalinic.

The second half saw a rather unconvincing performance from Spian. The spainish skipper Sergio Ramos was denied from the penalty spot by Ivan Vergic.  The European champions were later punished by a late winner from Ivan Perisic in the 87th minute.

The victory means Croatia wins the group with 7 points and will face an 'easier' opponent in the round of 16. While Spain will play Italy in the next round.
